How to can’t delete your Google Maps favorites list

Overview

When viewing Google Maps in a computer browser, you may sometimes delete lists you no longer need. However, if a spot like a store has disappeared, it seems there have been discussions within Google's user community about cases where you can't delete it from the list. I've written down the deletion procedure here.

Condition

The screenshot example shows the relocated Japanese ramen shop "Tenka Ippin Kanda Branch." Although the old location was listed, the spot was removed from the map. Consequently, the store information is lost. Even though it remains listed, opening the list icon (❤, etc.) on the map does not allow actions like deleting the saved location.

Step

  1. Open "Saved" from the menu
    • On PC browsers, within the menu on the left side of the Google Maps screen; on smartphone apps, within the menu at the bottom of the screen.
  2. The screenshot shows the PC browser screen, but from the list category screen, click to open the category where the spot you want to delete is registered.
  3. Select the spot you want to delete, and an "X" mark will appear. Click it to complete the deletion.
